Hi Everyone!
Firstly, I am so grateful for the love I have received in response to my first newsletter. If you remember, I briefly mentioned how I used to write poems and had a blog when I was younger. Sometimes, I feel I should have continued writing further, and I was even good at it. But I guess life keeps us so busy in its own course that we are often unable to pursue what we truly desire or what we are truly good at.
Speaking of that, how many of us have had a passion or a hobby that we wanted to pursue as a career but couldn't because we didn't know how well it would pay or if we were 'good enough' to ever succeed in it? I'm sure many of us have!
I've been thinking about this for a few days now, and I finally termed it as "The fear of the unknown." Isn't this what it is?! I've also been reading a book called "The 4-Hour Work Week," and I've been learning so much from it. I will write more about it in detail once I have finished the book.
For now, I would like to share a few points that I have highlighted in the book based on what I have read so far.
“If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is, too. Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate yourself. You are better than you think.”
“The fishing is best where the fewest go, and the collective insecurity of the world makes it easy for people to hit home runs while everyone else is aiming for base hits.”
“There is just less competition for bigger goals.”
“Excitement is the more practical synonym for happiness, and it is precisely what you should strive to chase. It is the cure-all. When people suggest you follow your “passion” or your “bliss,” I propose that they are, in fact, referring to the same singular concept: excitement.”
In conclusion, I would like to say that if you also have a fear of the unknown, just know that many of us are in the same boat. People aren't always courageous enough to believe in themselves and go after the things they truly think they are good at. But, it doesn't hurt to give it a shot, right? 🙂
Have a great week!
